3.09 Career Services

Purpose

This policy aims to define services provided by Career Services, define university-associated career fairs and recruiting-related events and designate eligibility for use of said services.

Policy Statement

  1. Career Services provides career decision making, career readiness, and job search assistance (resumes, cover letters, job search strategies & netwroking); mock interviews; graduate school preparation and application assistance and a comprehensive job board to all currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students.
  2. Career Services manages all university-associated career fairs, collects and disseminates graduate follow-up data, and manages on-campus student employment

Procedure

  1. Each new student enrolled at the University is automatically registered with Career Services. As a student service, enrolled students will have access to services throughout their time at UNI and for up-to 12 months after leaving and/or graduating.
  2. Registration for cooperative education or internships requires appropriate departmental approval for for-credit experiences. Career Services also administers the zero-credit transcript notations
  3. To enhance and manage the activities of off-campus recruiting partners and employers, all university-associated career fairs must be a) hosted, co-hosted or administratively managed by the UNI Office of Career Services, b) be open to all interested students, and c) be promoted through UNI’s Career Services job board to ensure fair and equal access to the UNI student body. 
    1. a. A university-associated career fair is any event focused on 1) promoting or filling job & internship opportunities, 2) includes three or more off-campus employers 3) requires a paid registration & 4) is sponsored by a university-associated organization (including student groups or student clubs).
